Aftercare Advice

Proper aftercare is crucial to protecting your skin, minimising downtime, and ensuring you get the safest, longest-lasting results from your treatment.

Microneedling

Proper aftercare is essential to protect your skin barrier, support optimal healing, and maximise your treatment results.

What to Expect (First 24–48 Hours)

  • Redness & Warmth: Your skin will look and feel like a mild-to-moderate sunburn. This is completely normal and typically subsides within 24 to 48 hours.

  • Mild Swelling & Tightness: You may experience slight swelling, tightness, or minor flaking as your skin recovers.

Immediate Post-Treatment Care (First 24 Hours)

  • Keep skin clean & product-free: Avoid touching your face with unwashed hands or applying cosmetics, perfumes, or active skincare.

  • Avoid washing: Keep your skin dry for the first 4–6 hours (or follow the specific post-serum guidance provided at your appointment). Wash only with lukewarm water and a gentle cleanser later in the day if necessary.

  • No makeup: Do not apply makeup for at least 24 hours to prevent clogging open micro-channels.

Days 1–7: Protect & Hydrate

  • Sun Protection (Crucial): Apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily. Avoid direct sun exposure for at least 1–2 weeks, as fresh skin is highly susceptible to hyperpigmentation.

  • Hydrate & Soothe: Use a simple, non-comedogenic moisturiser or hyaluronic acid serum to keep skin hydrated and calm.

  • Avoid Sweat & Heat: Skip heavy workouts, saunas, steam rooms, and hot showers for 48–72 hours to prevent inflammation and bacterial contact.

  • Do Not Pick or Exfoliate: Do not scratch, pick, or scrub any peeling or flaking skin.

  • Pause Active Ingredients: Hold off on Retinoids (Retinol/Tretinoin), Vitamin C serums, AHA/BHAs (glycolic, salicylic acid), and harsh scrubs for 5 to 7 days.

Anti-Wrinkle Injections

Following proper post-treatment guidelines helps ensure optimal distribution of the treatment, minimises any potential bruising, and maximises your results.

Immediately After Treatment (First 4 Hours)

  • Keep Upright: Stay upright for at least 4 hours post-treatment. Avoid lying down, bending over forward, or leaning head-down to prevent the product from migrating to unintended muscle groups.

  • Avoid Touching: Refrain from touching, rubbing, or massaging the treated areas.

  • Gentle Muscle Facial Movement: Lightly exercising your facial muscles (smiling, frowning, lifting brows) during the first hour can help the product bind to the targeted areas.

First 24–48 Hours

  • Skip Strenuous Exercise: Avoid intense workouts, heavy lifting, or cardio for 24 hours, as elevated blood pressure can increase the risk of swelling or bruising.

  • Avoid Heat & Steam: Hold off on saunas, hot tubs, steam rooms, sunbeds, and excessively hot showers for 24 to 48 hours.

  • No Alcohol or Blood Thinners: Avoid alcohol and, if medically safe, blood-thinning medications or anti-inflammatories for 24 hours to keep bruising to a minimum.

  • Gentle Skincare & Makeup: Avoid applying heavy makeup or applying pressure while cleansing your face for the first 24 hours.

Days 1–14: What to Expect

  • Gradual Results: Results are not immediate. You will begin to notice changes within 3 to 5 days, with full results visible at 14 days.

  • Mild Side Effects: Minor redness, slight swelling, or small localised pinprick bruises at the injection sites are completely normal and typically clear up within a few days.

  • Avoid Facial Treatments: Do not undergo facials, chemical peels, microneedling, or facial massages for at least 2 weeks post-treatment.

Follow-Up & Review

A two-week review appointment allows us to assess your results and make any minor adjustments if necessary. If you experience severe side effects, signs of allergic reaction, dropping eyelids, or asymmetrical movement after two weeks, please reach out to us.

Dermal Filler

Proper aftercare is key to helping your filler settle smoothly, reducing swelling and bruising, and maintaining beautiful, long-lasting results.

Immediately After Treatment (First 6 Hours)

  • Avoid Touching: Do not touch, rub, or press on the treated area for at least 6 hours to keep the area sterile and prevent uneven settling.

  • Keep Clean: Avoid applying makeup or cosmetics to the treated area for the remainder of the day to protect the injection sites from infection.

First 24–48 Hours: Minimise Swelling & Bruising

  • Apply Cold Compresses: If experiencing mild swelling, apply a clean, cold compress wrapped in a towel for 10–15 minutes at a time.

  • Avoid Strenuous Exercise: Hold off on high-intensity workouts, heavy lifting, and cardio for 24 to 48 hours to prevent increased blood pressure and swelling.

  • Skip Heat & Steam: Avoid saunas, hot tubs, sunbeds, and hot showers for 48 hours.

  • Avoid Alcohol & Blood Thinners: Refrain from consuming alcohol or taking anti-inflammatory medications (like ibuprofen or aspirin) for 24 hours, as they increase bruising risk.

  • Sleep Elevated: Try to sleep on your back with your head slightly elevated on an extra pillow for the first 1–2 nights to reduce facial swelling.

Days 1–14: What to Expect

  • Settling Time: It takes up to 2 weeks for the swelling and any minor firmness to fully subside and for the filler to integrate seamlessly with your tissue.

  • Normal Reactions: Mild swelling, localised tenderness, and minor bruising are expected and will clear up naturally.

  • Avoid Facial Pressure: Do not schedule facials, deep massage, dental procedures, or skin treatments for 2 weeks post-treatment.
